Thanksgiving 2010

This is a few days late, but I wanted to share what I am so thankful for.  I am thankful for my family.  I am so glad that I have an eternal family.  I am so thankful that we have a healthy happy little boy.  I am thankful for a husband who work so hard.  I am grateful to be able to stay at home with my baby.  I am thankful for our house that keeps us warm.  I am just thankful for everything.  :) OK, Dylan turned 12 weeks old on Thanksgiving.  It is crazy how fast time has gone. I was suppose to return back to work on the 1st of December, but staying home with Dylan is more important.  I am kind of sad in a way too.  I have worked with the school district for 11 years.  I started out as a substitute while going to school. Anyway, Thanksgiving day.  The weather has been awful. It has snowed a good foot.  We went to my parents for dinner.  My mom cooked the whole meal.  It turned out so good.  Dylan had a hard time with all the noise.  He tried sleeping on and off.  He did really well during dinner.  My sister gave him a bottle before we all started eating so he was content.  We played the traditional candy bar game and luckily he was asleep during that time.  It is such a fun game.  We all bring a bunch of candy bars. We put them in the middle of the table and we roll dice.  If you get a 7, 11 or doubles you get to choose a candy bar. Once all the candy bars are gone you set a timer for 10 minutes. You keep rolling the dice and if you want a candy bar that somebody has you have to say there name and the candy bar.  Its fun. We were going to go to Ben's families after dinner, but Dylan started getting really fussy so we came home. The next day we spent the whole day at his grandmas.  It was nice to see everyone.  Dylan was having another rough time due to all the noise.  Ben's aunt Karen who is from North Carolina is leaving soon.  So the next day we got together and she colored my hair for me.  It turned out cute.  Its so weird having my hair so blond. I really like it though. Its definitely different. She put blond chunks through the front and the bottom part is black. Its cute. :)  It has been a nice Thanksgiving break.  Today we stayed home from church to just relax and let Dylan take it easy.  He has been so over stimulated the last few days.  I will post pictures soon.

11 weeks

Sleeping in his big boy crib
Time really does fly by too fast.  Dylan is 11 weeks old today.  He is such a good boy.  He started sleeping in his crib Saturday night and he is doing fantastic.  He sleeps 8-12 hours at night.  It is so nice.  I LOVE it!

He is getting so big!

It looks a lot smaller in the pictures
This morning after I let the cats upstairs I went into the living room.  I noticed something on the floor by the fish tank.  I turned the light on and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a fish.  I was like what the heck.  I was in shock.  Ben had just left for work and so I called him.  I wanted him to come home and take care of it.  It creeped me out. Of course I didn't make him come clear home because he had just got to work.  I had to get a ton of paper towels and just scoop the thing up and throw it in a bag.  I took it outside and sent it in the garbage.  I feel bad I wish I could have sent him off to sea, but he is too big to flush.

Before
After
A couple of days ago I got a burst of energy.  I decided I needed to clean out our bedroom closet.  I have been avoiding this for awhile.  I finally got it done and now I need to make a trip to DI.

Christmas

My sister came over yesterday and got me into the Christmas spirit already. We watched Christmas movies and put Dylan in the cutest Santa hat.  We were going to make Christmas crafts, but we ran out of time.  She brought over a cute fiberoptic tree for me. The other night Ben and I went and got a few Christmas gifts for Dylan.  I wrapped them and stuck them under the little tree. Ben wont let me put the big tree up until after Thanksgiving.  I am excited to make yummy treats for my neighbors and friends.  I am going to make cookie dough balls.  I am so excited!  Here is the recipe.

1 (17.5 oz) box or pouch chocolate chip cookie dough mix

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup butter, softened
2 cups chopped pecans, divided

Combine cookie mix, cream cheese, butter, and 1 cup pecans in a large mixer bowl. Mix at low speed for 1 minute and then on medium speed, until well combined. Shape into a ball, roll in reserved cup of pecans, then wrap & chill for at least 3 hours. Serve with vanilla wafers or graham crackers.

I hope they like it.  I am so excited to start making Dylan's Christmas PJ's.  I am going to start a tradition in our family. On Christmas eve we will open our Christmas PJ's and then the next morning we can open gifts in our PJ's.  I am going to make matching pajama bottoms for the whole family so we can get pictures taken in them.  I am excited to get my sewing machine out and start doing the whole stay at home mom thing.  It has been so nice to be able to stay at home with Dylan.  He is so much fun!  He rolled over the other day and hasn't done it again.  He is starting to crawl around too.  It is crazy how strong he is.  He is only 10 weeks old!

Tonight is the first night Dylan is going to sleep in his big boy crib.  I am sad, I have loved having him next to me in the bedroom.  He has grown out of his bassinet. I remember the first time I put him in the bassinet and how small he was.  I thought to myself it will be awhile til he grows out of this. Boy was I wrong! I am kind of looking forward to getting the bassinet out of my room though.  I am tired of stubbing my toe on the thing. LOL I hope he does well tonight.  He has been sleeping through the night since he was a month old, I hope he continues to sleep through the night. :)

Epic weekend

Ben and I had the most amazing fastest weekend in the history of our lives.  I don't think we could have or ever will experience the most perfect weekend again.  The weather was pretty decent for November.  I turned 30 on the 6th.  I thought for sure I was going to have a hard time with it, but it wasn't bad.  Ben, Dylan  and I went to Target and got a few things for Dylan then we went to DI and dropped a ton of stuff off, then off to Deseret Book store. I love going in there to see all the new quotes that I can use for cutting out vinyl.  I love the quote "To the world you are a Mother but to your family you are the world".  I just love it.  After we left we had to go pick up tables from my sister in law Noel.  They had a couple of long tables for our luncheon on Sunday.  We got home and Ben played with Dylan while I got the house cleaned.  At 5 we were to go to my families house for a Birthday dinner for Ben and I.  Ben's birthday is the day after mine.  Right before we were going to leave, my sweet visiting teaching companion who I love dearly came over with her daughters. She told me to close my eyes.  So I did, when I opened them they sang me happy birthday. They had gone and got me my FAVORITE cake ever.  Weeks before I was telling her the story how my dad would take us to Carstins and get us treats and I just loved the chocolate fudge cake.  She was so sweet to remember.  Thanks Janae!  :)  Now I just need to exercise more because I have been eating so much of it. We then left to my parents house.  We had a wonderful roast dinner.  We opened gifts and had cake and ice cream.  My brother and sister in law gave us a gift card to Texas roadhouse.  My sister gave us money and books.  My mom and dad gave Ben a shirt and 33 quarters.  They gave me an argyle sweater, 30 quarters and a watch.  They give us quarters each year for the amount of years we are celebrating.  We had a great time.  We left Dylan with my family for 30 minutes while we ran and picked up some table cloths and folding chairs from my grandma. We grabbed Dylan came home and got all the tables and chairs set up for the luncheon for the next day.

Sunday November 7th 2010 Today was absolutely crazy yet perfect!  Today is Ben's 33rd birthday and Dylan's Blessing day.  I woke up stressed out and finished getting things ready for the luncheon.  Ben had to go to a church meeting early for one out of 3 church callings. He is the ward technical specialist, secretary in the young men's presidency and the secretary in the elders quorum presidency. Anyway, I got Dylan bathed and put in his blessing outfit.  He was so cute. (pics to come soon) I prayed that he would sleep during the blessing so he wouldn't be screaming and crying.  I got my wish he did SO good.  He slept the whole time. :0)  Ben gave a beautiful blessing.  We both got up and shared our testimonies. It was such a great experience.  I didn't realize Ben could get up and speak so well.  I on the other hand do not do well in front of people.  Half the stuff I wanted to say slipped away.  Luckily it wasn't too bad getting up in front of everyone.  I really don't care what they think.  I just figured now that I have a child I have to be the example and get use to going up there so he won't be afraid for when he gets older.  I want to help him gain a testimony.  It was so nice to have SO many family members and friends there.  After sacrament we all came over to our house. We ended up having around 40 family member at our house. I am amazed that we were able to fit that many people in our house.  The sandwiches turned out yummy thanks to my grandma who makes the best rolls.  Luckily the weather was half way decent and the kids were able to go play out on the swings. Luckily we finished with one spill and a raspberry hand print all over the wall. It was so nice and it was fun seeing everyone.  It turned out perfect!  I couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

2 months

This one cracks me up he looks so scared. LOL  I guess if I was kissing me I would be scared. :)

Dylan had been really sick for awhile and we were taking him in for an appointment for his 2 month check up. I was looking forward to having the Dr finally tell me what was wrong.  I also had a few other concerns as well.  Well, Dylan woke up happy and feeling great!  I was so thrilled!  We went to the Dr and Dylan was such a happy little boy.  He was doing great!  I couldn't believe how much he had gained.  He weighs 11 lbs 14 oz and he grew 3 inches.  ( I think it is from all the dark Kayro we have been giving him for his constipation.) Anyway, the Dr came in and Dylan was doing everything perfect that I had concerns about. It was so funny.  He was smiling away and just loved the Dr.  I was so glad.  The Dr says Dylan is doing fantastic and is a healthy little boy.  Dylan had to have his immunizations too.  I was so worried, I thought I was going to cry.  They gave him his shots and he didn't really like them all the much, but he did AWESOME.  Of course he cried, but after I picked him up he was fine.  I fed him and he fell asleep.  After the appointment Ben and I went and voted.  I am so grateful for our right to be able to vote.

Last night Nov.4th Dylan had his first babysitter.  It was my sister, but she came over while Ben and I went to walmart to get food for the luncheon on Sunday for Dylans blessing.  We were there longer then I wanted to be.  It was hard to be away from my baby. I almost cried because when we were leaving Dylan just looks at me and I swear he could tell we were leaving.  He started to cry and I felt bad for my sister.  She did great though.  Luckily had fell asleep 20 minutes after we left.

I can't believe tomorrow I turn 30.  I am beginning to feel so old. When I look back I remember when I was a kid and someone asking me where do you see yourself in the next 10 years and I would say married, be a stay at home mom and have a house that I can call my own. Well it took me awhile to have a baby, but that is okay.  He is so worth the wait.  I have reached my goal and loving it. I am so thankful for my loving husband who treats me so well.  His birthday is the day after mine and I am so glad we get to spend our birthdays together.  It is like a holiday for us.  Ben has already given me my gifts.  He got me new boots, braclets and an ipod.  I feel bad I havn't got him anything yet.  I don't know what to give him.  I think I am going to take him to get a new drill.  I am really a bad gift giver. I am so excited for his birthday this year though.  Dylan is getting blessed.  What a great birthday gift.  I am so thankful that my husband holds the preisthood and can bless his son.  I have always wanted that in my life.  It took awhile for it to happen, but it did and thats all that matters. :) I am kind of stressed about the lucheon.  We will have 40 plus people at our house and I am freaking out.  I hope there will be enough seats.  Our house isn't that big, but we will make it work.  Thank goodness for a big basement where people can go downstairs and watch football or whatever. We will be having sandwhiches and chips.  I was going to do salads, but the less we have the less of a mess. I am awful, but I don't want my house getting covered in food.  I am so thankful my sister is coming over to watch Dylan so I can get the house in order more.  I should be cleaning now, but I wanted to blog for a bit since I have so much to say.

Last thing!  So Ben has been in a weight lose competition at work.  He lost a total of 77 lbs and 37 inches.  I am so proud of him. Well they announced the winners today.  Ben WON!  I am so proud of him.  They have 3 catagories 1 total amount of weight lost 2. total inches and 3. % of body fat lost.  Well Ben kicked butt and lost the most out of everyone in each catagory, but they only let you win one so that kind of sucks. Last competition they gave away flat screan TVs so we are hopeing that is what he gets today. We will see though.  I am so proud of him!  Keep going babe!

Hoppy Halloween from the Hares. :)

Dylan is still not doing very well.  We go to the Dr tomorrow and can't wait.  I am a little scared about him getting his shots though.  I think I am going to cry for him.  (I am good at that lately).  For Halloween  eve my sister came over and we watched Inception.  It is a great movie.  We didn't have any trick or treaters on Saturday or Sunday.  Dylan luckily slept most of the night.  He is such a little trooper.  I love that boy so much.  He has been so miserable.  Let's pray the Dr will figure out what is going on with him.
